Short Order is a tale of several short stories taking place in one night. Fifi Koko, although content to labor in Ishmael’s greasy grill bar, is a brilliant chef whose culinary skills are able to induce orgasms in those who sample her food. She is overwhelmed by the lecherous Felix, who wants her body and her skills in his upmarket kitchen downtown. Catherine, Fifi’s delivery girl, finds herself a guest on a make-believe talk show, gets her ear bent by a mysterious call girl and gains some wisdom from lonely barfly Marianne. Next door to Ishmael’s, Paulo suspects that tonight’s only customer is the infamous food critic Dee who routinely skips out on the bill, an insult to every chef. But Dee only wants to sample the secret special dish that only Paulo has the nerve to cook. Sex, dark humor and food are the orders of the day in Short Order.

Short Order is Anthony Byrne’s feature film debut. He is currently writing his next feature film Empire of Sleep. Anthony’s last short film Meeting Che Guevara & the Man From Maybury Hill is one of the most successful Irish short films in recent years.
