Coleman Miller’s film takes an obscure Mexican hospital drama, edits it, rewrites it (through subtitling), and turns filmmaking on its head. Uso Justo (loosely translated: “fair use”) is at once an existential, ridiculous and hilarious experimental film, a well targeted send-up of avant-garde filmmaking (and filmmakers), and a commentary on copyright law. A short film that works on every level.
Winner, Best of the Fest, Ann Arbor Film Fest and Official Selection at Rotterdam Film Festival. Scott Coleman Miller has been making films for over twenty years. His commercial work includes MTV, Lollapalooza, and the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Film Festival. The 2005 recipient of the $25,000 McKnight Foundation grant for filmmakers, he was also the recipient of a Jerome Media grant in 2001, and a Film Arts Foundation grant in 1990. Producer: Richard Hansen Screenwriter: Scott Coleman Miller Editor: Scott Coleman Miller Note: Uso Justo will be shown with Ashaman and My Dad is 100 Years Old
