An award-winning film about smart and brave children set in Finland in the early 1900’s, based on the real childhood diaries by the famous writer, artist, and philosopher, Aleksanteri Ahola-Valo. When two nine year-olds, Valo and Ville, take it upon themselves to start a secret school, some adults in the village disapprove and try to shut them down. The children, however, refuse to give up. The adventure begins in an inspiring story that exemplifies the importance of friendship, courage, and of believing in oneself. Beautifully filmed and acted, Valo contains an idealistic message from children for children and was made in collaboration with the Finnish UNICEF. – DG
